Marianne Merchez (b. November 25, 1960 in Uccle) is a former Belgian European Space Agency astronaut who has the dubious honour to be the only ESA astronaut to have retired (in 1995) without ever to have flown in space.

A consequence of this unfortunate situation is that no Belgian Walloon has ever flown in space, the other two Belgian astronauts being Flemish.

She is married to former Italian astronaut Maurizio Cheli.
