Marian High School is a private, Catholic college preparatory school for young women located in Omaha, Nebraska. Marian was founded in 1955 by the Servants of Mary. Its 23 acre campus is located in northwest Omaha, near the junction of Military and 72nd Street.
Marian has won the U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Award for Academic Excellence twice. It is the only Class A, North Central accredited college preparatory high school in the state of Nebraska for girls.
Marian's principle aspect is its relaxed, highly academic learning environment grounded in religious values. Marian High School challenges students to spiritual and moral growth, academic and physical excellence, and social maturity. As a Catholic community, Marian values the sanctity and individuality of each student and strives to live the example of Jesus Christ as teacher and servant. Marian is open to all qualified students regardless of race, religion, creed, color, or national origin.

[edit] Faith
An Invitation to Spiritual Development is integral to the Marian experience of Catholic education. Young women are invited to participate in this “future plan of hope” by: -Learning about their faith in religion classes that focus on scripture, morality, Catholic/Christian teaching and Sacraments. -Celebrating their faith in liturgy and daily prayer. -Strengthening their faith through retreats. -Witnessing their faith through Christian service.
[edit] Annual Events
In addition, Marian girls know how to have fun. Student extra-curricular activities outside the academic sphere are necessary to enrich and complete a total educative process. For this reason, Marian High School provides a full spectrum of clubs, sports, and activities for involvement outside of the classroom.
[edit] Walk-a-Thon
Walk-A-Thon is the school’s only all-student facilitated fundraiser, in which each student is responsible for collecting pledges from the community. The event’s goal grows each year and encourages the students to be advocates for Marian and help fund the costs that accompany the institution.
[edit] Pop Hop
The Pop Hop is a special evening for fathers and daughters. The Pop Hop takes place annually and is an opportunity for fathers and daughters to have their photo taken together, enjoy dinner and then dance the night away.
[edit] Surprise Day
Surprise day is an event planned each year by the Student Board that usually occurs during the second semester. The half day of games and entertainment is a way to increase student spirit and allows students to spend time together outside of the classroom.
[edit] Light Night
Marian’s mothers and daughters have the opportunity to enjoy a night of love and friendship as they celebrate their mother/daughter bonds at the school’s annual Light Night event. Mothers and daughters have their photo taken together, enjoy a dessert and coffee social and candlelight reflection all before the night’s entertainment.
[edit] gnimocemoH
gnimocemoH, which is "homecoming" spelled backwards, is Marian's unique spin on homecoming. Instead of a football game, Marian hosts a spirited faculty-versus-student volleyball game. Later that evening, students attend a very informal dance where they don wacky attire and crown the neeuQ (queen), usually known as Marian's most spirited student.
and of course...
[edit] Field Day
Field Day is held the first Friday in May and is Marian's largest and most colorful event of the year. Marian students spend the week leading up to Field Day making costumes, decorating halls, building mascots, learning songs, and perfecting routines, all in anticipation of winning the coveted Field Day trophy. Months of preparation and a ton of creative ideas help to make this day one of the most memorable Marian events. Marian Field Day is a cultural phenomenon of the school that one must experience for themselves to truly understand it. Marian alumna have been known to try to explain to significant others, family, and new friends to know avail. Judges are usually former Marian students.
