Margot Verger

Margot Verger is a fictional character in Thomas Harris' novel Hannibal.
A lesbian bodybuilder, Margot Verger was the black sheep of her wealthy family, ignored by her father in favor of her older brother, Mason. Worse yet, Mason molested her when they were children and violently raped her when they were teenagers, dislocating her arm and biting a chunk out of her buttock. She was put in psychotherapy with Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who was disgusted by Mason's abuse and told her that killing him would be cathartic. Years later, Lecter would nearly kill Mason during a therapy session, breaking his neck and mutilating his face beyond recognition, partially as retribution for his crimes against Margot.
Margot's father deliberately excluded her from his will as punishment for her sexual orientation. While Margot despised her brother, she remained loyal to him, becoming his bodyguard in hopes that he would donate his sperm to her partner, Judy, so that they could have a child who could inherit the Verger fortune. Mason repeatedly refused her, however, and often mocked her for even trying.
During the novel, she formed a close friendship with Barney Matthews, Lecter's former prison guard. The relationship was complicated by Matthews' growing (and one-sided) sexual attraction to her, however.
Mason had Lecter kidnapped, and ordered Margot not to interfere with his plan to feed him to a pack of wild boars. Lecter was rescued by Clarice Starling at the last moment, however, and he reached out to Margot, reassuring her that she was finally strong enough to kill her brother, and promised to take the blame for it. After killing Mason's body servant, Margot used a cattle prod to force her brother to ejaculate, providing her with the needed sperm. Margot then killed Mason by shoving his pet Moray eel down his throat. Judy was successfully impregnated.
Margot did not appear in the film adaptation of Hannibal.
