Margaret of Brabant

Margaret of Brabant (4 October 127614 December 1311, Genoa), daughter of John I, Duke of Brabant and Margaret of Flanders. She was the wife of Count Henry of Luxemburg and after his coronation 1308, Queen of Germany.

She had been married with Henry in 1292 in the context of a peace agreement (due to the enmity, which resulted after the battle of Worringen) of the two houses. She bore in the marriage, which ran according to all reports lucky, a son, Johann of Luxembourg (1296-1346), and two daughters, Maria (1304-24) and Beatrix (1305-19). Margarete accompanied its husband on its Italy course, got sick however during the siege of Brescia and deceased only few months later in Genova, where she lies also buried. The famous sculptor Giovanni Pisano was given the commission by the emperor for a monument in her memory in 1313
