Margaret Utinsky

Margaret Elizabeth Utinsky (August 26, 1900August 30, 1970) was a Medal of Freedom recipient who provided medicine, food, and other items to aid prisoners of war in the Philippines during World War II. Specifically, she provided medicines such as quinie to the POWs in the Cabanatuan Prison camp. Based out of Manila, she worked in the hospital there under cover as a Lithuanian nurse. In her apartment, she met with resistance operatives ranging from Filipinos to Germans to Spaniards.[citation needed]

She was portrayed by Connie Nielsen in the 2005 film, The Great Raid.
