Margaret May
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Margaret Ann May (born 30 June 1950), Australian politician, has been a Liberal Party of Australia member of the Australian House of Representatives since October 1998, representing the Division of McPherson, Queensland. She was born in Baa, Fiji, and was educated at Seaforth TAFE College in Sydney. She was a financial administrator with the New South Wales Department of Education 1982-88 and an electorate secretary before entering politics.
Having been aligned with the powerful Michael Caltabiano/Santo Santoro faction, she abruptly disassociated herself with that force after Prime Minister John Howard did not include her in his sixth ministry, choosing instead former state minister, Santoro. Having lost the support of Caltabiano, her local committee is now chaired by her husband, David.
It is not known if May intends to seek another term.
