Marcus Cornelius Washington (born October 17, 1977 in Auburn, Alabama) is an American football linebacker for the NFL's Washington Redskins.

Marcus Washington attended Auburn High School in Auburn, Alabama, where he lettered in both basketball and football. Auburn High School was also attended by Dallas Cowboys defensive end Demarcus Ware and New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora.

As a senior at Auburn University, Marcus Washington played defensive end and posted seven sacks and 52 tackles.

He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts with the 28th pick in the second round (59th overall) of the 2000 NFL draft. After four good seasons as a linebacker with the Colts, they were unable to make him an offer because of the expected cost of re-signing Peyton Manning. (Colts general manager Bill Polian said, "When he signed with the Redskins, it broke my heart.") The Washington Redskins quickly swooped in and signed him as a free agent on March 5, 2004, four days after the start of free-agent signing. With the Redskins, his career has blossomed. He made the Pro Bowl in 2004 and was named an alternate in 2005. He is a crucial part of the Redskins defense. "Marcus can embarrass you out there," Redskins linebackers coach Dale Lindsey told The Washington Post. "He comes out with so much energy in practice that you have to match him."

In the 2005-06 postseason, following a successful five game win streak, the Redskins were pitted against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wildcard Round of the NFL Playoffs. Following a run straight up the middle, Marcus Washington was spotted trying to get to his feet urgently. As an official's review later confirmed, he picked up a fumble by Tampa running back Cadillac Williams and ran several yards forward, only to have the ball punched out of his hands by Tampa fullback Mike Alstott. However, Redskins Free Safety Sean Taylor picked up the ball and returned it for a touchdown, which turned out later to be the Redskins' margin of victory. Married and has two kids with Whitney Orzman.
