Marcus Tudgay, (born February 3, 1983) is an English football player who currently plays for Sheffield Wednesday F.C. in the second tier of English football, The Championship. He plays in the position of a striker.
[edit] Player Profile
Marcus Tudgay was born in Shoreham, Sussex. He came through the ranks at Derby County F.C. and made his senior debut in August 2002. His final Rams goal came against his current club Sheffield Wednesday F.C. at Hillsborough in November 2005. In all he made 99 appearances for the Rams, starting on 59 occasions and scoring 18 goals.
Marcus joined the Owls from Derby County for an undisclosed fee in January 2006, penning a contract to keep him at Hillsborough until 2010. He had initially signed on loan with the club but manager Paul Sturrock decided to make his move permanent after he claimed a debut goal in a 3-0 win over Crewe Alexandra.
The manager's faith in him was justified as Tudgay scored vital goals in Sheffield Wednesday's successful attempt to avoid relegation from The Championship.
Tudgay was unfortunately ruled out for the start of the 2006-07 campaign due to a bizarre injury sustained at a family barbeque over the summer - the player cut his toe on glass, severing tendons and requiring surgery which is set to rule him out of competitive action for up to three months. But he has bounced back to score 6 goals in 5 games this season.
