Marcus Trufant (born December 25, 1980 is an American football cornerback who currently plays for the Seattle Seahawks and went to Washington State University as a teammate of wide receiver Devard Darling and quarterback Jason Gesser. Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington--Trufant was an all-state running back on the Woodrow Wilson High School football squad which was 2nd in state 4A football in 1998. Marcus has a brother, Isaiah Trufant, who plays for the Af2 team the Spokane Shock. Trufant had a career season in 2005 as his Seahawks made their first Super Bowl. Unfortunately the Seahawks lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. His impact has in the NFL has been felt as many quarterbacks avoid trying to throw in Marcus Trufant's area.

While Attending Wilson High (Tacoma, WA, Marcus lettered in three varsity sports: Football, Basketball and Track. He was the team captain for all three teams as a senior. As a junior, was Offensive Player of the Year in football and Mr. Defense in Basketball. As a senior, he was named All-State by the AP, Seattle PI and Washington Prep Report. Name Washington AAAA player of the year by TNT as well as the Seattle PI and Seattle Times All-League, All-Area and All-State teams. Won he State AAAA championship as a senior and scored 30 TD and rushed for 1,800 yards on offense while recording 48 tackles and 8 interceptions on defense.

After being recruited by former Washington State Head Coach Mike Price, He started for all four years and was a member of the 2002 Rose Bowl team that lost to Oklahoma in his senior year. Incredibly he did not allow a single TD against him for his last two years there. As a Freshman he was a Freshman All-Pac 10 Conference selection. Played in 11 games, starting seven of the final eight contests. Recorded 37 tackles (27 solo) with two interceptions and 13 pass defensed. Started every game at left cornerback as a sophomore, earning Player of the Game honors versus Stanford. Recorded 53 tackles (43 solo) with three interceptions and 16 passes defensed and a fumble recovery. Was selected All-Pac-10 Conference honorable mention as a junior. Started seven games, missing four with a broken thumb. Recorded 37 tackles (31 solo) with three stops for loss, forced and recovered a fumble, had three interceptions, and seven passes defensed.As a senior, was selected an All-American second-team pick by the Associated Press and First-Team All-Pac 10 Conference choice. Served as team captain and started every game at left cornerback. Finished the season third on the team with 74 tackles (59 solo). Also had three interceptions, deflected 13 passes and recovered a fumble. Returned 38 punts for 402 yards (10.6 avg.). During his four years with the Cougars he recorded 201 tackles, (5 for loss), and eleven interceptions in 43 games. After the 2002 season he was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 11th Overall Pick in the NFL Draft.

2003: One of two rookies (S Ken Hamlin) to start on defense and make an immediate impact. Started all 16 games, the first five games at left corner with Shawn Springs out (shoulder) and the last 11 at right corner. Led the team with 20 passes defensed which tied for second in the NFC (T-5th NFL). Also collected 78 tackles (69 solo) with two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
2004: Followed up excellent rookie season by becoming only fourth cornerback in NFL history to lead their team in total tackles (93). Tied SS Michael Boulware for second on team with five interceptions (3rd NFC, 8th NFL). Posted 20 passes defensed for the second consecutive season.
2005: As a member of the Seahawks NFC Champion Team Trufant started at Left Corner. He Started 15 games, only missing the Green Bay game. Led team with seven tackles, and posted second career sack and first forced fumble against Jacksonville on opening day. Had his only interception of the year against Arizona on November 6th. Led the team with three passes defended, recorded three tackles and picked up a fumble in the 4th quarter to secure the NFC Championship against Carolina.
