Marc W. Buie is an American astronomer, who specializes in planetary astronomy, particularly Pluto. Buie received his bachelor's degree in physics from Louisiana State University in 1980 and his PhD in Planetary Science from the University of Arizona in 1984. He works at Lowell Observatory and has discovered numerous asteroids. He is also one of the co-discoverers of Pluto's newly discovered moons, Nix & Hydra (Pluto II & Pluto III)
