Marc Chouinard (born May 6, 1977 in Charlesbourg, Quebec, Canada) is a Canadian professional ice hockey center/winger curently playing for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League.
Marc Chouinard started his career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 1993. After two successful seasons he was drafted in the 2nd round, 32nd overall by the Winnipeg Jets during the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. He has never actually played for the Winnipeg Jets, as he was later traded to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. After a few years of playing with the teams American Hockey League affiliate, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, Chouinard was called up during the 2000-01 NHL season and has since held a roster spot in the NHL.
His success in the minors has not translated into success in the NHL, as his slow skating abilities have hampered his potential to score. He is used primarily as a checking line center, used to kill off penalties and to shutdown the opposing teams top forwards. He has, however, had some success on the powerplay, as his large 6'5" frame is a hard for the opposing team's defenceman to move when placed in front of the net.
