Marble Bar Railway
The isolated Port Hedland to Marble Bar railway was a Western Australian Government Railways 3' 6" gauge branch line that was opened in July 1911, and closed in the early 1950's. It was the first railway in the Pilbara region running from the north coast of Western Australia. Subsequent Iron Ore railways that have been developed in the region are standard gauge railways.
The closest railhead in the main rail system to the south was at Meekatharra - most rolling stock and materials were shipped in and out of the port at Port Hedland.
