Dear Mr Manu
Thanks for the note. I must admit that you are correct with regard to the Diwan's tharavaad. It is Edasseri Pattaveettil (not Pattathil) of Mavelikkara. The mistake was caused by a mis-communication on my part. I shall correct this in the article. The Diwan's sister married a certain gentleman (an Unnithan whose name I haven't got hold of yet) whose mother belonged to the Thottaman Unnithan family (which, by the way is my father's Tharavaad) and whose father belonged to Illikkulathu. I have verified this from Dr RR Unnithan (my brother-in-law) who is the grandson of the Diwan's sister and nephew of the Malathi Kunjamma whom you have mentioned. By the way I am related only very distantly to the Diwan (not a relation that merits any mention), but I am directly related to his wife Bhargavi Amma (she was my great-grandmother's brother's daughter). I shall try to gather more info about Illikkulathu. regards.
Hi Diwan Unnithan's brother-in-law was indeed Narayanan Unnithan. He had 3 sons and 4 daughters. They were Padmavati Kunjamma (or Thankamma, mother of Dr RR Unnithan), Krishnan Unnithan (former Addl Director of Agriculture, Govt of Kerala), Sarvamangala kunjamma, Malati kunjamma, Radhakrishnan Unnithan, Parimala kunjamma and Gopalakrishnan Unnithan. All the sons and eldest daughter Padmavati are no more. I'm not sure if his uncle was from Kaduvinal, by Thayvazhi he should have been from Thottaman, unless you meant his paternal uncle. By the way i'm trying to collect names of Unnithan households. Do let me know if you have any with you. regards.
