Talk:Mandalorian War
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shouldn't this say that these actions happen (or are told, rather) in the games Knights of the Old Republic (KotOR) and KotOR II? I think people would rather like to know where to read-see the story first-hand.
Also does anyone know the position of this in the timeline? It seems to be somewhere around the end of the Old Republic since the Jedi Council was destroyed after the war, but of some kind of "paralel universe" of sorts since this seems to contradict with what is told in The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith --Lacrymology 05:25:13, 2005-08-05 (UTC)
- See Dates in Star Wars - that has it correctly dated at about 4,000 years before the Battle of Yavin (Episode IV: A New Hope). Yes, many Jedi were killed, but the Jedi Order survived. More were wiped out by the time of KOTOR 2, but some still survived (as hinted by the fact that each of the Jedi in game believed him/herself to be the last remaining Jedi). Also, your entire party can become Jedi. By the time of Episode I, the Jedi Council seems to be in full life. -Xol 20:24, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
I think it should be mention that George Lucas does not recognise the Mandalorian Wars as canon. Dico 20:11:16, 5 Aug 2005 (GMT)
- He doesn't? well, it kind of makes sense.. there's a major Jedi genocide there. I do think this is really important (or as important as SW universe can get, anyways). What's your source? --Lacrymology 19:41, August 5, 2005 (UTC)
- Everything I seem to find on the net says that KotOR 2 is canon. Or at least the light side ending with no one but the Handmaiden/The Disciple (and I am not sure about the last one, because I'm pretty sure the exile is male in canon) becoming Jedi. --Lacrymology 13:34, August 8, 2005 (UTC)
Serroco confused with Soccoro in this article:
There seems to be a difference in spelling between Soccoro which is a desert planet described in the WEG Roleplaying book Black Suns of Soccoro and Serroco. Most notable is that Atton in the KOTOR II dialog file refers to the "Stereb Cities" which are not mentioned in the WEG Roleplaying book. The difference in spelling and the descrepancy warrants a change. StarShadow 15:30, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
Dating Updated
According to the lastest release from Dark Horse, the Republic and the Mandalorian forces were already clashing by 3964 BBY.
Furthermore according to Star Wars Insider, the KOTOR 1 occured 3956 BBY which places the end of the warm on the basis of Dorak's timeline in the tlk file, to be 4 years before that. That means the war ended in 3960 BBY not 3961 BBY.
Also, no official dating exists as to when the Jedi joined the Republic in the War, based on the information given in the Dark Horse Comics, the Jedi known as "Squint" was already out recruiting for the Jedi on Taris as of 3964 which means the Jedi joined around this time and not late. Also to be noted is that Bastila's quote conflicts with Master Dorak's timeline.
More unclear dating on the part of Lucasbooks should be noted also here in the discussion. The New Essential Guide to droids conflicts with the New Essential Chronology by placing the end of the Mandalorian Wars in 3961 BBY. I wish these people would get their numbers straight, it would make writing an article so much easier. For consistency purposes,I believe it is best if this page remains with the dating from the Chronology and the tlk file.
