Talk:Manar Maged
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I have read several articles about Manar. They all seem to say the same thing; the other head could smile and blink but head could not survive detached from Manar.
Why isn't the obvious question being answered? What was the level of brain activity for the head? Was this a viable child that depended on the organs of the body of her twin for survival but was sacrificed to improve the quality of life for her sister?
This child was smiling and blinking does that not suggest life, a personality? This is disturbing to me. Someone please shed some light on the subject.

I'm also very interested in approximating the level of brain activity in the parasitic twin. Was she aware at the time of the operation that she would be removed like that and that this would kill her?
Bizarre. Very bizarre.
To answer the above question from what I know, I believe the twin's heart was being over-taxed by having to provide for both 'bodies'. The doctors believed it could not hold up under those circumstances.

This article states that the parasitic twin showed signs of gangrene, but as the page doesn't cite references, I'm not sure how reliable this is. 61.68.65.40 02:34, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Moved from main article:
"An edit by a reader: One puzzling thing about Manar Maged is that nowhere on the internet can I find information about the twin. Can the twin eat? Does the twin have a stomach? Would the twin be able to talk? If anyone knows this information, please edit this article and tell about it."
[edit] Any updates on Manar's condition as of 12/05?
Does anyone have a verifiable update on Manar's current condition? Web searches are yielding zilch...

Thanks.

[edit] Manar's condition
According to Bodyshock, the Channel 4 documentary mentioned in the article she suffered brain damage after a tube inserted into her brain to remove excess fluid got blocked, putting pressure on it. It said she could still recover. I would add this to the article, however I can't find any confirmation of this on the web. Hurdygurdyman1234 22:17, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Please someone find out is she is still alive, the documentry was so moving - just pleased i did not have to make that decision with my children.
Manar also has a fully developed twin. It isn't clear whether that twin is fraternal or identical.

- There was a special on Discovery Health that said that Manar's twin sister (I can't remember her name) was fraternal. Morhange 04:23, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
