Manx law

Manx Law is ostensibly based on the law of England and Wales, but when one looks at significant modern trends and developments, such as the abolition of the death penalty, votes for women and protectionism in employment, the relationship appears to be more complex and less one-sided.

The Isle of Man is legally a Crown Dependency, not part of the United Kingdom, and as such is not subject to English Law, although in practice the bulk of the latter is regularly assimilated so as to avoid unnecessary duplication.
