Manx2 is a new airline based at Ronasldway Airport in the Isle of Man. It announced its launch on 11 May 2006 and services started on July 15 2006. The airline was founded by Noel Hayes and James Filleul who also set up Rockhopper (now Blue Islands Airways), an airline serving the Channel Islands. The first three routes which have been announced are: Belfast and Blackpool on July 15, and Leeds-Bradford on August 12. The airline is said to have planned its schedule so passengers can continue travel on Jet2 airlines to popular European destinations.
On the 11th July, the airline took delivery of its first aircraft; a Let 410 registered HA-YFG, and painted in the corporate colours of Manx2. the aircraft are operated by 'BASe Air Kft' (Budapest Air Services) under the call sign 'Base' and the flight code 'BPS'.
Manx2 introduced the Jetstream 31 into their fleet in September 2006 with the aircraft being operated by Jetstream Executive Travel Ltd. Initially only one J31 was added to the fleet to operate the Isle of Man - Leeds Bradford service, however a second was added in October 2006, also from Jetstream Executive, to operate the new Isle of Man - London Stansted service.
