Sadguru Yogiraj Sri Sri Mangeshda claims to be an enlightened Kriya Yogi. He claims to be a direct disciple of the allegedly more than 1800 years old, legendary Himalayan yogi, Mahavatar Babaji. Mangeshda has reportedly made it his personal mission to spread "Love Energy" all around the world, to awaken and integrate people of all religions, castes and creed and to guide them towards the "Ultimate Experience."

Born into difficult circumstances, Dada is believed by his followers to be a living example of how an individual can rise above his surroundings, achieve excellence in several fields and also experience the Divine. He was a rebellious child who challenged the rituals and superstitious beliefs in the society. To remove common superstitions regarding ghosts and black magic, he slept several times in cemeteries and in haunted houses amd also consumed articles which were kept with the belief that they transmit evil power. He is a multi-faceted personality in as much as he is a writer, poet, and actor as well as a guru. He has attended World Congress for Alternative Healing.[citation needed] He holds a black belt in karate and has won Gold Medal for India in 1977.[citation needed] He is a kathak dancer and a choreographer who has held shows in India and abroad.[citation needed] He is an interior designer, an entomologist and an expert in Vaastu.[citation needed]

Dada was blessed at the tender age of 13 by Shree Gulavani Maharaj of Pune with Shaktipat who also indicated that he would meet his Sadguru shortly thereafter. Soon after his graduation, on a fateful Shivaratri day circumstances compelled him to leave his home. When he was wandering in pensive mood, he met his Sadguru and undertook sadhana for over seven years in the Himalayas. After a reputed experience of enlightenment, his Sadguru sent him back with the instructions to lead a householder's life, to set an example for others as to how to experience samadhi with the Supreme without renouncing the worldly life by following the path of Kriya Yoga.[citation needed]

Dada always asserts that each and every human being has the necessary potential to realise God. Instead of being mere followers, he exhorts people to come forward and experience samadhi. To achieve this objective, he is teaching the path of Kriya Yoga. His teachings are said to based on pure love, which is said to be the basis of all religions. Indeed, his disciples follow different religious faiths.[citation needed]

Sadguru Mangeshda Kriya Yoga Foundation, founded by disciples of Sadguru Yogiraj Sri Sri Mangeshda, actively promotes world peace and using the ancient, scientific and effective path of Kriya Yoga.[citation needed]

Sadguru Mangeshda Kriya Yoga Foundation was established with the motto, "to Spread Unconditional Love & Unconditional Forgiveness all over the world." In the form of this foundation he has built an ever-growing unique family, not of blood relatives, but of his disciples breaking the barriers of age, social status and religion. The Institute is currently headquartered in Mumbai and has more than 50 centres all over the world.[citation needed]
