Manfred Stolpe

Manfred Stolpe was Federal Minister of Transport, Building and Housing of the Federal Republic of Germany from 2002 until 2005. From 1990 until 2002 he was Premier of the State of Brandenburg.
Born in Stettin on May 16, 1936, married, one child
1955-1959 Studied law in Jena (East Germany).
1959-1969 Active in the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg and guest student at the Free University of Berlin (until 1961)
1962-1969 Head of the Secretariat of the Conference of Governing Bodies of the Evangelical Churches in the GDR.
1969-1981 Head of the Secretariat of the Federation of Evangelical Churches in der GDR.
1976 Appointment to the World Council of Churches Commission on International Relations.
1982-1990 Consistorial President of the Eastern Region of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg and, as such, a member of the Conference of Governing Bodies of the Evangelical Churches in the GDR; at the same time
1982-1989 one of the two deputy chairmen of the Federation of Evangelical Churches in der GDR.
November 1989 Honorary doctorate from the Department of Theology at the University of Greifswald.
July 1990 Joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD)
October 14, 1990 Election to the Brandenburg State Assembly.
November 1, 1990 Elected Premier of the State of Brandenburg
April 1991 Honorary doctorate from the Department of Theology at the University of Zurich
From May 1991 to June 26, 2002 Member of the SPD National Executive.
October 11, 1994 Reelected Premier of the State of Brandenburg
