"Who Do You Think You Are"/"Mama (Spice Girls song) | "Spice Up Your Life" 1997 |
"Mama" was the fourth single off the Spice Girls' debut album, Spice. It was released as a double-A side along with the Comic Relief music video for "Who Do You Think You Are". The single sold in excess of 600,000 copies in the UK.
"Mama" did not receive as much airplay as "Who Do You Think You Are", since it was on the double-A side (which do not often get fully played on television or on the radio) of the track, but was still highly recognized.
[edit] Music video
The video of the song featured the mothers of all five Spice Girls. In the video the girls are singing to an audience of children and their mothers, about the love they have for their own mothers. It also shows each mother of the girls holding a picture of their daughter. This song was highly popular with children and it was used as one of the songs to celebrate Mother's Day. The length of the song used in the official music video is 3:33, while the actual length of the song is 5:03.
