Talk:Malaysian Indian Congress
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The finest hour was achieved on Aug 31, 1957 when Independence was achieved under the Merdeka Agreement, to which Sambanthan was a signatory.
The greatest challenge that the party faced during this time was the fragmentation of estates, the livelihood of almost all Indian workers. In a bid to help the fragmentation, the party sponsored cooperative efforts to acquire estates and prevent displacement of the workers. This witnessed the birth of the National Land Finance Cooperative Society (NLFCS)."
"Now, the MIC is considered a caring association, providing many services and meeting the needs of the community."
This sentence captures how much the whole article sounds like a brochure the MIC might have put out itself.
There has been a lot more criticism of the MIC than is reflected in this article, specifically how the MIC has ensured the subjugation of Indians in Malaysia by the political and economic elite.

I have removed some of the material I feel was unnecessary and inaccurate, and tried to give it a more balanced tone. PaladinDave 04:11, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] NPOV dispute
I have tried to remove some of the obvious POV language, like "finest hour".
I feel this article doesn't focus enough on the problems and shortcomings of the MIC, such as corruption, selling out of the Malaysian Indian community etc. My memory of specific political issues is limited however, so I was hoping someone else could help balance the article.
I am also secptical of much of the article, but my scepticism can be allayed if someone can provide citations.
