Malleco

Malleco is a province of the Araucania region, in southern Chile. Its estimated population is 223,184 (2005). It has eleven municipalities. The provincial capital is Angol.

Melipeuco is located at the foot of the Andies in Southern Chile's IX region and is part of the Araucanía Andina Region. Twelve kilometers from Melipeuco you will find the southern entrance of the Conguillío National Park. The Nevados of Sollipulli, a volcanic boiler surrounded by numerous hot water springs and geysers, are south of Melipeuco. In this same area you will find lake Carilafquen. Also, at the skirts of the Nevados of Sollipulli, at the Alpehue intersection, 33 kilometers away, there are several hot springs with waters from 40º to 70º, even in the middle of glacier blocks.
