The Mall at Stonecrest is the center of a retail "Power Center" in the Atlanta suburb of Lithonia, Georgia. Like most Power Centers, Stonecrest (as it is called by locals) is surrounded by big box retailers like Target and Best Buy, and various restaurants and fast food establishments like Olive Garden and Hardee's. The mall is anchored by Parisian (becoming Belk Fall 2007), Sears, Macy's (former Rich's), JC Penney, and Dillard's.
The mall is two level and actually the shape of a crest with the five anchors and movie theater shooting out from it.In addition to the five department store anchors, the mall also includes, bookstores, electronic media outlets, clothing stores, toy stores, a movie theater, and a food court; in short, typical American mall fare.
The area of DeKalb County, Georgia where the Mall at Stonecrest is located is one of the more affluent African-American areas in the United States. Before the opening of Stonecrest Mall in 2002, many in this community complained about the lack of retail in the area. At the time, the closest mall was South Dekalb Mall, a dying urban mall built in the late 1960s.
The mall is owned and operated by Forest City Enterprises.
