Malibu High School (MHS) is a secondary public school in Malibu, California. It is home to a high school and middle school, both sharing the same campus. The school has two newspapers— The Current (high school paper) and The Surfwriter (middle school paper). Malibu High is part of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. Until the 1980s, students from Malibu were required to bus into Santa Monica for grades ten through twelve. The former Malibu Park Junior High is now Malibu High School. Malibu High has been recognized as a California Distinguished School. Newsweek Magazine's Top 1200 Schools in America ranks MHS 240th best school in America and 28th in California as of 2006. [2]
