Malcolm Christie

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Malcolm Christie (born April 11, 1979 in Peterborough to proud parents Tony and Agatha, a brother for Linford) Malcolm is an English football player. He currently plays for Middlesbrough in the English Premiership as a centre forward.

Malcolm started his career at Deeping Rangers before moving onto another non-league club Nuneaton Borough. Christie was a supermarket shelfstacker whilst playing football part time. Christie was purchased from Nuneaton Borough by Derby County and went on to establish himself as a first team player by 2000. He spent one season with Derby in the Football League Division One after they were relegated from the FA Premier League in 2002. However in January 2003, Middlesbrough signed him for £1.5 million, bringing him back to the premiership, although his chances have been limited at his new club due to being laid-off with several long term injuries. Malcolm, however, is still regarded amongst many Middlesbrough fans as a hot talent who will grace the turf of the Riverside and Wembley for many years to come.

In a recent poll on Middlesbrough F.C's official website, Malcolm received 2.2% of votes for Boro's best striker of the season. As he gets older, and even wiser to the beautiful game, Middlesbrough fans will be hoping to see this increase, maybe to even as high as 5%. Malcolm also narrowly missed out on a 2006 England World Cup call up to the more experienced Theo Walcott.

Malcolm Christie still lives at home with his parents, who allow him 50p pocket money a week. Malcolm is not allowed to buy sugary sweets with this.
