Mako is a fictional character from Highlander: The Series, portrayed by actor Jonathan Banks. He is an Immortal.
Mako was the first Immortal Richie Ryan beheaded giving him more significance to the series than the average villain of the week. Also, he wasn't the typical evil character but a character with grey moralities, which made him more interesting.

Mako was born in 1260, in Durham, England. He grew up seeing so much death and crime. Mako became a fighter for the law, years later, he dedicated himself to fight crime, Mako lived by the letter of the law. Mako's distinct feature about him is the scar on his right cheek. He has seen villages burned, women and children killed. In 1300, he was killed while attending to duties as Shire Reeves of Durham. He became Immortal and later on met his teacher, Thomas of Manchester, who taught him about being Immortal.
Mako became a champion for the law, in 17th century Europe, he met Immortals Duncan MacLeod and Hugh Fitzcairn, who at the time were learning to read. In 18th century Kingdom of Great Britain, Mako became sheriff of Durham.
In 1882, in Texas, Mako became a U.S. marshal, tracking down criminals. Mako believed in his duty and did not care whether the accused were guilty or innocent; he believed in the court system. Mako went to the Dakota Territory to hunt down a fugitive named Tim Ramsey, a man who was involved in a train robbery. Tim was accused of murdering a man, but he did not do it. Tim was a friend of Duncan MacLeod, who was working at a newspaper. Mako ran into Duncan MacLeod there. Tim decided he must run away; Duncan gave him a place to hide. Mako ran into Tim in the center of town. They faced off in a gun fight; Mako was faster on the draw and killed Tim.
In 1994, Dallas, Texas, Mako is a U.S. marshal. He is tracking down a fugitive named Laura Daniels. She is wanted for murdering her husband. Mako tracks her down in Seacouver, Washington. Mako nearly catches her, but is saved by an Immortal named Richie Ryan. Mako finds out where she is and tries to force Richie to tell him where she is. Duncan MacLeod learns she is on the run for murder. Richie and Laura run to a motel. Mako finds them and they run off. Richie realises that they can not run forever. Mako is driving his big truck and runs into Laura, killing her, Mako says it was an accident. Richie is very angry and they fight with their swords. Duncan arrives at the scene and sees Laura dead. Mako and Richie are fighting, Duncan goes into the building and tries to talk them out of fighting. Ignoring Duncan, Mako and Richie continue their duel. During the fight, Mako gets on top of a table and falls through it; he stabs Richie with his sword and Richie takes his head and receives his Quickening.
