[edit] Boundaries

Makerfield consists of the southern part of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan in Greater Manchester. It includes Ince-in-Makerfield and Ashton-in-Makerfield. It comprises mostly the areas to the south of the main town of Wigan.

[edit] Boundary review

Following their review of parliamentary representation in Greater Manchester, the Boundary Commission for England has recommended alterations to the existing constituencies in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan area. The electoral wards used in the altered Makerfield constituency are:

  • Abram, Ashton, Bryn, Hindley, Hindley Green, Orrell, Winstanley, and Worsley Mesnes.

These changes move Ince-in-Makerfield to Wigan.
