Talk:Mail & Guardian

[edit] Ownership.

I'm a little confused over the ownership of the Mail & Guardian. Guardian Media Group's 2003 annual report mentions a 10% shareholding in M&G Media, but its 2004 report mentions neither the shareholding, nor any action to dispose of it. So does GMG (or its subsidiary Guardian Newspapers Ltd) still own any part of M&G? --rbrwr± 13:22, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] "Weekly Mail online"?

"The Weekly Mail criticised the government and its Apartheid policies which led to the paper's suspension in 1988 by PW Botha. In 1994 the Mail & Guardian Online was launched, becoming the first internet news publication in Africa. The London based Guardian Media Group (GMG), publishers of The Guardian, became the majority shareholder in 1995, and the name was changed to Mail & Guardian."

Was the site really called M&G before the paper was? What was the URL? www.mg.co.za was still a placeholder in 1997. -- Jeandré, 2006-12-04t19:59z
