[edit] Plot
A war between the Infershia and Magitopia had occurred unbeknownst to humans. After being imprisoned within the earth for 15 years, the Infershia have returned to get revenge from their imprisonment. When the Infershia attack, five siblings witness their mother change in front of them and she hands them MagiPhones to transform into a magic team. Now endowed with magic powers, these five vow to live up to their family's legacy. They have yet to discover many more family secrets.
[edit] Main Characters
[edit] Ozu Family
These five children (three brothers and two sisters) lived peacefully with their mother, believing that their father died in an expedition in Antarctica. Upon learning the truth, their mother revealed to them their family legacy. Over time, they learn their father was a Heavenly Saint. The five siblings later receive the power to turn into Legend Mode. By the end of the series, the siblings were reunited with their parents.
- Kai Ozu (小津 魁 Ozu Kai?)
- The youngest of the Ozu Family, he is the Red Mage, MagiRed. He uses his proficiency with alchemy and his power over the element of fire to fight evil.
- Tsubasa Ozu (小津 翼 Ozu Tsubasa?)
- The middle son of the Ozu Family, he is the Yellow Mage, MagiYellow. His specialties are potions and the element of thunder.
- Urara Ozu (小津 麗 Ozu Urara?)
- The youngest daughter and middle child of the Ozu Family, she is the Blue Mage, MagiBlue. Her specialties are fortune telling and the element of water. She later marries Hikaru.
- Houka Ozu (小津 芳香 Ozu Hōka?)
- The eldest daughter and the second oldest child of the Ozu Family, she is the Pink Mage, MagiPink. Her specialties are transformations and the element of wind.
- Makito Ozu (小津 蒔人 Ozu Makito?)
- The eldest son of the Ozu Family, he is the Green Mage, MagiGreen. His specialties are herbology and the element of earth.
- Miyuki Ozu (小津 深雪 Ozu Miyuki?)
- The mother of the Ozu Family, she is the White Mage, MagiMother. After her husband disappeared, she watched over her children by herself and kept their magical abilities secret until Infershia started to attack the surface. Her specialty is the element of ice.
- Hikaru (ヒカル?)
- After Miyuki disappeared, Hikaru began to teach the Ozu children more about magic, and joined them in battle as the Heavenly Hero MagiShine. His true identity is that of Heavenly Saint Sungel. His specialties are the elements of light and the sun.
- Isamu Ozu (小津勇 Ozu Isamu?)
- The long lost father of the Ozu Family, he had defeated Infershia long in the past, but had been transformed into Dark Magic Knight Wolzard (魔導騎士ウルザード Madōkishi Uruzādo?) and fought the Magirangers, until regaining his memories and helping them as Wolzard Fire. His true identity is that of Heavenly Saint Bragel.
[edit] Heavenly Saints
The Magirangers' magical and elemental powers are drawn from the Heavenly Saints (天空聖者 Tenkū Seija?), magical and holy entities. Their domain is Magitopia, a heavenly paradise created by the Five Legendary Magicians. Other Heavenly Saints include: Blagel (Isamu Ozu/Wolzard), Sungel (Hikaru/MagiShine) and Raigel (Meemy). It is also said that when humans are able to obtain enough magical powers they can become Heavenly Saints themselves but then lose all memories they had as humans, this nearly happened to the Ozu siblings when they gained their Legend power and formed MagiLegend for the first time if it weren't for Hikaru's restriction spell.
- The Five Legendary Magicians
- These Heavenly Saints earned great power, and were the ones that created the Utopian domain called Magitopia. They were once human and were briefly seen in the Magiranger Movie.
- Heavenly Saint Flagel (天空聖者フレイジェル Tenkū Seija Fureijeru?): Heavenly Saint of the Burning Flame Element, represented by a Red Mage. Kai's powers are drawn from this one.
- Heavenly Saint Volgel (天空聖者ボルジェル Tenkū Seija Borujeru?): Heavenly Saint of the Galloping Thunder Element, represented by a Yellow Mage. Tsubasa's powers are drawn from this one.
- Heavenly Saint Splagel (天空聖者スプラジェル Tenkū Seija Supurajeru?): Heavenly Saint of the Shaking Water Element, represented by a Blue Mage. Urara's powers are drawn from this one.
- Heavenly Saint Wingel (天空聖者ウインジェル Tenkū Seija Uinjeru?): Heavenly Saint of the Blowing Wind Element, represented by a Pink Mage. Houka's powers are drawn from this one.
- Heavenly Saint Groungel (天空聖者グランジェル Tenkū Seija Guranjeru?): Heavenly Saint of the Howling Earth Element, represented by a Green Mage. Makito's powers are drawn from this one.
- Rin (リン Rin?) / Heavenly Saint Lunagel (天空聖者ルナジェル Tenkū Seija Runajeru?)
- Heavenly Saint of the Serene Moonlight Element, she was targeted by the Infershia as she is the "Key to the Gate", whose death would open the Hades Gate. Her memories were sealed by Raigel and she took on the form of a young woman named Rin. The Magirangers managed to help her regain her memories as Lunagel. At first, she had little confidence in the Magirangers' abilities and sought to destroy the Infershia herself, only to be captured to complete Branken's plan to open the Hades Gate. It would have cost Lunagel her life, but she was saved from this fate by Kai. After Branken's death, Lunagel departed to Magitopia. In the movie, Lunagel showed the siblings the Heavenly Temple where Magiel hails from. Lunagel would later reappear to help the Magirangers master their Legend Powers, cure those infected by Mold, and reveal more of the events of 15 years ago relating to Blagel whom was last seen by Lunagel prior to her memory loss. In Stage 47 she appears beaten up to inform everyone that Magitopia was under attack by N Ma. Lunagel tried to warn Magiel of N Ma's arrival, but N Ma still managed to kill Magiel (although it was later revealed she survived) and destroy Magitopia, but Lunagel was saved by Magiel. After informing the Magirangers, she teleported away. She aided the Rangers in the finale. Kai considers Lunagel as another sister figure and still calls her by her human name, Rin, rather than her Heavenly Saint name.
- Heavenly Saint Chronogel (天空聖者クロノジェル Tenkū Seija Kuronojeru?)
- Heavenly Saint of Time and Space. Time magic was considered to be to dangerous for anyone to wield, and he placed a curse upon all Time magic and retreated into another dimension in the form of a mountain. When MagiYellow used the same magic to try and see what happened in the past, he was stricken with a horrible side effect, opening a chasm through his chest which sucked in time, appearing as a dark whirlwind. Hikaru sealed him with a barrier spell and took him to find Chronogel's staff, the only thing that could reverse the effects of the reverse magic on Tsubasa. After overcoming the odds, and even Wolzard's mind games, Hikaru removed the staff. Wolzard, however, used it as a chance to take out the unmoving Chronogel, killing him with a blast from his Jagun Shield. It is likely that the Nightmare Sisters resurrected him after N Ma was annihilated by the Magirangers.
- Heavenly Saint Snowgel (天空聖者スノウジェル Tenkū Seija Sunōjeru?)
- Heavenly Saint of the Sparkling Ice Element, represented by a White Mage, who gave the MagiRangers their Legend power, when they found her inside a giant fish and melted her frozen heart with their powerful courage. Miyuki's powers are drawn from this one. Snowgel is the most senior of all the Heavenly Saints, and is the only one that has two forms: infant and humanoid. She had the privilege of being the Five Legendary Magicians' pupil. She aided the Rangers in their fight against Drake, and in the finale.
- Heavenly Arch Saint Magiel (天空大聖者マジエル Tenkū Daiseija Majieru?)
- Heavenly Saint of all Magic, she is referred to as the leader and the most powerful of the Heavenly Saints. She hails from the Heavenly Temple, and is a Giantess (though not as large as N Ma). When N Ma came to Magitopia in Stage 48, N Ma confronted Magiel, but Magiel sealed N Ma in an orb of fire called the Hollow Mirage. N Ma broke the orb and began destroying Magitopia. Before Magiel was seemingly killed, she managed to teleport Lunagel away to the human world. It turns out in the finale, she survived N Ma's assault by teleporting away. A year after N Ma's destruction, she is still getting used to a human (Urara) living on Magitopia. It is likely that she had her throne room rebuilt after N Ma trashed it.
[edit] Allies
- Mandora Boy (マンドラ坊や Mandora Bōya?)
- A young Mandrake the Magiranger met when they found their secret headquarters. Despite being in a pot, he can hop around as well as fly. Ends most of his sentences with "de gozarimasu desu!". He is very emotional and easily excited and tends to bicker with Smoky when he and MagiShine joined the team. At the end of each episode when a new spell is introduced on the Magiranger's side, he explains the spell's ability. In the Movie, he grew into a Beanstalk-like ladder for the Magirangers to go to Magitopia in order to see Magiel.
- Smoky the Magical Cat (魔法猫スモーキー Mahō Neko Sumōkī?)
- Hikaru's mischievous feline genie who resides in the MagiLamp, which was found in the cave that was Raigel's tomb. He came into being from a volcano in Magitopia. He gathered piles of treasures until one day he opened the Annihilation Box. To save him, Sungel sucked him into the MagiLamp. Smoky was spared, but he can't last out of the lamp for more than three hours. Smoky can be released from the curse if he grants the wishes of others, but Smoky prefers to grant only one wish to whoever awakens him from his slumber, and only if he is compensated for his services. When the Ozu gang wished for Infershia to be gone, he denied their request, stating that the power the Infershia wield is greater than his own. He seems to have some limited magical powers as well, such as getting brief glimpses of the future and enlarging himself to help the gang out and by turning food into sand as a prank. Despite being a goof-off, he is a capable fighter and once piloted Travelion (though he usually just shovels the coal). He sees Urara as a mother figure and bickers with Mandora Boy now and then. He seemingly met his demise in Stage 48 protecting Urara as Dagon attacked her, but he was revived by the Nightmare Sisters to help MagiShine for the final fight against N Ma.
- Goddess of the Mini-Spring
- Appears in the "KaiShine vs. MagiShine" special, a shapeless entity who takes the form of Miyuki Ozu. Kai's MagiPhone falls in the spring she protects and she offers him the Golden GripPhone or the Silver MagiPhone. She is nice and concerned; however, she tends to repeat herself.
[edit] Others
- Yuka Yamazaki (山崎由佳 Yamazaki Yuka?)
- The manager of Kai's high school soccer team. He developed a strong crush on her, though she fell in love with MagiRed, unaware that he's Kai. In the movie, King Glum do Bridon kidnapped and attempted to marry her in order to bring his Hades Beastman Berserker army into the human world. He used the Puppet's Ring to gather the souls of humans in order to make her fall in love with him but before they were to be properly wed, however, Kai, as MagiRed, bursted in and performed a powerful spell that broke the power of the ring she was wearing, and at the moment that they embraced, Yuka knew that Kai and MagiRed were one and the same. On the last episode of Magirangers, she cheered on the Magirangers with the rest of the city to defeat N Ma.
- Eriko Ikeda (池田江里子 Ikeda Eriko?)
- Eriko is a haughty, self-absorbed woman who runs a restaurant that Makito often sells his vegetables to. Makito is head-over-heels in love with her, but she did not reciprocate his feelings even though he never argued with her. She gave him a plant (which Makito names "Petit Eriko" after her) and promised that she would date him if he made the plant sprout flowers. When somehow the plant sprouted flowers, Eriko was surprised and actually confessed that the plant wasn't supposed to do that, indicating she never wanted to date Makito in the first place. However, when she became attacked by a monster version of Petit Eriko, Makito sacrificed his life to rescue her despite what she had done to him. His passion and bravery furthermore impressed her that she eventually started developing an interest in Makito, eventually becoming his girlfriend. She also appeared interested in Hikaru when he and the Magirangers returned from their extracurricular lesson in the Marudeyouna World. Eriko's interest in Hikaru further raised Makito's tension with Hikaru.
- Tetsuya (テツヤ Tetsuya?)
- Houka's photographer friend who she was about to marry after learning that he had the Solitary Confinement Hades Three Beast Skeleton's curse. His personality is similar to Houka and that alone tends to irritate Makito. When Bullrates made Houka lose her memory, Tetsuya tried to court Houka for a second time. Makito and Tsubasa made sure this wouldn't happen.
- Rei Mamiya (間宮レイ Mamiya Rei?)
- A popular singer known to her fans as "Reirei". Tsubasa met her when jogging one day, mesmerized by her singing. In truth, she was killed by Neries the week before Tsubasa met her. Neries' throat was injured by Blagel fifteen years ago and so her singing voice, one of her main sources for her attacks, was disabled and thus she captured Rei's soul. Rei was forced to lure humans with her beautiful voice to Neries, who would take their lives to heal her throat. Rei soon befriended Tsubasa, who was the only one who understood her. When the Magirangers found out who Rei was, Hikaru resorted to freeing her soul from the Siren, but Tsubasa didn't want to part with her. Rei was then kidnapped and absorbed by Neries for refusing to sing for her. Rei's soul created a remedy into healing Neries' throat, but Tsubasa managed to free her. Even though Tsubasa and Rei loved each other, Rei told Tsubasa that they couldn't be together because she was already dead and Tsubasa still had a future. She disappated into the heavens, thankful that Tsubasa was the last person who heard her song, her true song.
- Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (特捜戦隊デカレンジャー Tokusō Sentai Dekarenjā?)
- They met in the special Mahou Sentai Magiranger VS Dekaranger. On the 10 year holiday the Ozu family had (known as "Fantastic Happy Day" to them), they all ate at the same restaurant Umeko (DekaPink) was in, but they were suddenly attacked by an Alienizer. When Urara and Jasmine (DekaYellow) were captured, the two teams worked together to protect the Flower of Heaven that was entrusted to Miyuki as well as battle a former Infershian (now an Alienizer). Kai and Ban (DekaRed) did not get along until they finally realized that they both had the same goals: to protect families. Near the end of the movie, they bonded over their mutual girlfriends.
- Akane (茜 Akane?)
- Kai's former classmate, and a pastry-chef's daughter. Kai helps her bake the Christmas cakes her family sells every holiday season, and his determination to succeed allowed successful sales in spite of disaster when Kai and Hikaru went to help her.
[edit] Underground Hades Empire Infershia
The Underground Hades Empire Infershia (地底冥府インフェルシア Chitei Meifu Inferushia?) are from the Kedomono Realm at the center of the Earth, which was ruled by the mysterious N Ma. Years ago, N Ma created the Hades Gate to send his entire army to Earth, but was stopped by the Heavenly Saint Blagel 15 years ago. One thing to note is that almost no magicians make up the Infershia's ranks, only those who have joined from outside Infershia, and even that was few: Blagel/Wolzard and Raigel/Meemy. N Ma uses his agents to break the seal so he can conquer the surface world. However, overtime, some of the Infershia began to realize N Ma's insane obsession of destroying the Heavenly Saints and the Ozu Family became too reckless due to some of the needless deaths. Once N Ma was destroyed, Hades Goddess Sphinx took over rule to rebuild their world and start anew with Magitopia.
[edit] Magical Spells
The various characters of Magiranger utilize magical spells accomplish various tasks. Each magical word correspond to a digit on a phone. For example, when the Magiranger want to transform into their Magiranger forms, they use 106, which corresponds to "Maagi Magi Magiiro."
[edit] Name Puns/Facts
[edit] Magirangers and Associates
NOTE: Despite the fact Hikaru is Sungel, as MagiShine he essentially becomes an additional MagiRanger. Anything related to him in this form will be placed here. Rin was a name given to Lunagel before the revelation of her true form so it is here as well.
- The Ozu family name, originally written in kanji as 小津, is probably an homage to the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz stories, as it shares the same romaji, Ozu.
- When the Ozu siblings' names are put in order of age from oldest to youngest, the term "MAHOUTSUKAI" (Japanese for "magician") is formed by taking the first syllable from each of their names --- MAkito, HOuka, Urara, TSUbasa and KAI.
- "Kai (魁)" means "the first" or "leader". This is obviously reflected in as having leadership in his team. Additionally, the Japanese character for "fire (火)" is also read as "ka".
- "Tsubasa (翼)" means "wings", which is shown as his symbol is of the MagiGaruda and forms the wings in the MagiDragon/MagiKing combinations.
- "Urara (麗)" means "bright" due to her personality showing maturity and intelligence at most times. Also Urara means "beauty". Also is a pun of the word Uranai which meaning "fortune telling".
- "Houka (芳香)" means "fragrance", somewhat referring to her being the girly of the sisters.
- "Makito (蒔人)" means "sower", referring in owning the Aniki Farms and his talent in herbology. "Maki" also means logs, the kind intended for firewood, linking him with his element of earth (also the Heavenly Saint he draws his powers from, Groungel, is a tree-like creature).
- "Miyuki (深雪)" means "deep snow" in Japanese, referring to Miyuki's element being ice/snow elemental magician.
- "Isamu (勇)" means to being brave and couragous, referring to his bravery even in the face of danger and overwhelming odds.
- Wolzard's name is an amalgamation of the words "Wolf" and "Wizard". In addition, uruzādo is only one syllable away of how the Japanese would spell 'Wizard': uizādo.
- MagiShine's name functions similarly to the pun in Wolzard's name - majishain is again only one syllable away from majishan, 'Magician'.
- Mandora Boy's name is a double pun. "Mandragora" is another name for "Mandrake", a plant that in legend was said to shriek when pulled from the ground. "Mandragoras" are also the name for familars given to Magicians to be used for consultation (although in myth they are somewhat sinister as they are given to the Magician by the Devil!).
- "Hikaru (ヒカル)" means "to shine", it can also be inferred simply as "light".
- Smoky is named so because genies are usually thought of as creatures that are born from and made of smoke or mist.
- "Rinrin" in Japanese is an adverb that describes the sound a bell makes. Rin was named so because of the bell she carried and the sound it made.
- The spell of "majine" (4 on the MagiPhone) is a pun in itself. "Ne" is occasionally used in a negative term in the Japanese language, so "majine" would literally be "no magic", hence its use in transforming back to their civilian forms.
- KingCalibur is a mix of the words King and the old English word Calibur. Same goes for ScrewCalibur. Both names are also a reference to King Arthur's sword, Excalibur.
- When translated literally, KingCalibur's name means 'King Steel'. And literally ScrewCalibur means 'Screw Steel'
- Hokies is Japanese for brooms.
[edit] Heavenly Saints
For mostly every Heavenly Saint that has appeared, the first part of their name correlates directly to their power/element/association. The last part is due to a romanized of the last four of as "EnJERU" or "AnGEL".
- "Fla" is short for "Flame".
- "Vol" is short for "Voltage".
- "Spla" is short for "Splash".
- "Win" is short for "Wind".
- "Groun" is short for "Ground".
- "Luna" is Latin/Spanish for moon. Lunagel is associated with the moon/night.
- "Rai" is a Japanese word referencing lightning (雷) and was the name of a Japanese thunder god, "Raijin (雷神)". Raigel/Meemy has shown an affinity with lightning. Additionally, "Rai" could be short for "Raitoningu (ライトニング)" i.e. Lightning. Seeing as Raigel is the only one to have his name based on a Japanese word rather than English, his name may in fact be Lighgel and Raijin may just be a double pun.
- "Chrono" is a prefix related to time, Chronogel uses time magic.
- "Bla" is short for "Blaze".
- "Sun" for sun, and "Snow" for snow.
[edit] Infershia
- The name 'Infershia' is a pun on the word 'inferno', obviously relating to fire and Hell.
- The 5 leading main villains of the show are reminiscent of the 5 major movie monsters of yesteryear: Count Dracula the Vampire (Vancuria), Frankenstein's monster (Branken), the Mummy (Meemy), the Werewolf (Wolzard, while evil), and the Gillman/Creature from the Black Lagoon (Dagon). Both Dagon and N Ma are homeages to demon gods in H.P. Lovecraft's works: Dagon & Cthulhu. Also the Zobil and High Zobil are reminiscent to zombies, especially due to their true, disgusting, faces, the High Zobil are also similar in appearance to two well-known movie monsters/villains, Jason Voorhees and Leatherface.
- N Ma's name is a direct reference to Enma (Yama), the Japanese guardian/judge of the underworld. His "Absolute God" form is a combination of the designs of Cthulhu & Satan, giving him a Balrog-like appearance. "N Ma" is pronounced as "Unn Ma".
- Meemy's name is a direct reference to the Egyptian 4th/5th Dynasty wab priest Memi
- A Pantheon is a group of gods in a particular religion. While his name lead to a connection to N Ma's Lovecraft basis, Dagon's appearance harkens to Dagon the chief fish god of the biblical Philistines.
- Branken's name is a nod to Frankenstein.
- Vancuria's name is an amalgamation of the word "Vampire" and the name "Dracula". Nai & Mea read/said in Japanese is "Nai to Mea" (the "to" is the Japanese equivalent of "and") or more to the point the single word "Naitomea" (ナイトメア). This is the Japanese pronunciation of the English term "Nightmare". Nai & Mea appeared in most of the episodes except Stage 48.
- The black-caped Magiranger dopplegangers mentioned in the Meemy article are called the Yamirangers. "Yami" means "darkness" in Japanese.
- The Hades God Sleipnir is named after the eight-legged horse from Norse Mythology that was ridden by Odin. However, the only links between the two are that the Hades God Sleipnir has a horse-like face on his chestplate, and drives a chariot pulled by horses.

[edit] Trivia
- It marks the first Sentai to have some scenes filmed in New Zealand by the Ranger Productions team, albeit to a limited extent. The footage is mainly used only in the opening credits and for some early rolecall scenes. Besides that, all episodes use footage filmed in Japan only. This was also the first of a two-year deal between Disney and TOEI that ends when Boukenger ends.
- The story had some various American influences in the fantasy genre like Charmed (The manor, the family legacy), the Harry Potter series (Magirangers' robe attire and Travelion being based on the Hogwarts Express), & The Lord of the Rings series.
- The Heavenly Saint Groungel's appearance is similar to that of the Ents from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Additionally, King Glum do Bridon's appearance is similar to the villain of the series, Sauron, especially when his armor grew spikes. Raigel's appearance is also vaguely similar to Sauron's with his spikey head and fanged mouth. During the first half of the series, N Ma can also be compared to Sauron in the way he watches over operations with the Infershia like how Sauron watched over the world of Middle Earth with his flaming eye.
- Wolzard being the Rangers' father is similar to Gosei Sentai Dairanger, where one of the villains was really RyuuRanger's father, which was itself somewhat similar to the situation of Darth Vader in Star Wars.
- This is the third sentai series to have closing remarks before the ending song began.
- Voice Actor Tesshō Genda who narrates Magiranger and voices Magiphone also narrates the toy commercials of all the Super Sentai Series, he also was the voice of the original Optimus Prime/Convoy in the Japanese dub of the Generation 1 Transformers cartoon, and furthermore was the voice of Primus in Transformers Superlink and Transformers Galaxy Force.
- Magi (pronounced Maji in Japanese) also means "serious". For example, "Magi-kayo?", as Kai often says, means "Are you serious?" (in Stage 29, when Houka loses her memory, she questions the team's name- "Serious Rangers"? When about to finish off a monster in Magiking, the Rangers will also sometimes say, "We're serious!").
- It is the second Sentai series with a marriage involving members of the team, the first is Choujin Sentai Jetman. And it is the first Sentai series with a married couple, and later with two, first Miyuki and Isamu, and later Urara and Hikaru. Further, it is the seventh Sentai series with a romantic involvement with the members of a team. The first series is J.A.K.Q. Dengeki Tai (Gorou Sakurai/Spade Ace and Karen Mizuki/Heart Queen), the other series are Choujin Sentai Jetman (Ryuu Tendou/Red Hawk, Gai Yuuki/Black Condor, and Kaori Rokumeikan/White Swan (love triangle)), Gekisou Sentai CarRanger (Youko Yagami/Pink Racer and Naoki Domon/Blue Racer), Mirai Sentai Timeranger (Yuuri/Time Pink and Tatsuya Asami/Time Red), Ninpuu Sentai Hurricanger (Nanami/Hurricane Blue and Isshū Kasumi/KuwagaRaiger), and Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (Marie Gold/DekaGold and Banban "Ban" Akaza/DekaRed, Koume "Umeko" Kodou/DekaPink and Sen'ichi "Sen-chan" Enari/DekaGreen, and Swan Shiratori/DekaSwan and Doggy Kruger/DekaMaster). Other tokusatsu series with a romance and marriage within the team include Chouseishin Gransazer (Akira Dentsuin/Sazer Remls and Ai Uozumi/Sazer Pisces).
- MagiBlue is the sixth Ranger to have a water-based theme. The others were Blue Dolphin, Ninja Blue, GingaBlue, GaoBlue, and Hurricane Blue, whose water-based attacks are similar to MagiBlue's.
- It has the first color-changing upgrade ('purple-colored' Wolzard to 'crimson-colored' Wolzard Fire).
- It is the first Super Sentai series with a female White Ranger that is not part of the main team.
- The way that the Infershia leaders act is very similar to Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger's Highness Duke Orgs, in that both Branken and Shuten are incredibly short-tempered, both Meemy and Ura are effeminate and use fans and mirrors, and both Dagon and Rasetsu don't hesitate to attack, maltreat, and even kill their colleagues.
- It is the second Super Sentai to feature more than six members. The first was Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger.
- It is the only Super Sentai featuring human heroes past their 40s in the main series (MagiMother and Wolzard/Wolzard Fire). However, in the movie "Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai", which is generally considered to not be part of the main GaoRanger series, a 50-year-old Banba Soukichi transforms into Big One. Note that none of these holds the title of the oldest Ranger, as that title is held by KingRanger of Chouriki Sentai Ohranger (over 600 million years old, although appeared as a child). He is followed by the Zyurangers who are over 170 million years old.
- Machiko Soga, who portrayed Magiel, had her first time playing a heroic character in Super Sentai. She is known for playing various evil characters in tokusatsu; Queen Hedorian from Denshi Sentai Denjiman, Queen Pandora from Jikuu Senshi Spielban, and Witch Bandora from Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger (known to fans of the American Power Rangers series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as Rita Repulsa). Unfortunately, this would be one of her few non-villainous roles and last tokusatsu role before her death in 2006 due to pancreatic cancer.
- It has the third sentai robot who use the word King (in English) in the robot's name. The first is Flash King from Choushinsei Flashman and the second is GaoKing from Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger.
- This is the first Super Sentai series to use capes as part of the uniform since J.A.K.Q. Dengeki Tai.
- Yousuke Ichikawa (Hikaru/MagiShine/Sungel) conciliated the filming of the series and two movies with his studies. He was studying Mathematics at Yokohama National University and graduated in March 2006. He is qualified as a Mathematics teacher.
