Mahned Bridge

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mahned Bridge in Perry County, Mississippi was a through-truss-type single-lane bridge constructed in 1903. Its remote location several miles from the small town of New Augusta has made it a favorite place among college and high school students for star gazing and other activities. It was torn down in the late '90's after it was the scene of the abduction of Robbie Bond and William Hatcher, both of Hattiesburg.

Two years prior to the abduction (and consequent murder) of Bond and Hatcher, authorities located the car of missing person Angela Freeman, as well a puddle of her blood, at Mahned Bridge in the same place they were to find Hatcher's.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
