Mahdist War

The Mahdist War was a struggle for Sudanese libaration that failed in the late 19th century. The British had over 26,000 troops and the Sudanese had over 60,000 fighters. See the Battle of Omdurman. Casualties were Sudan: 30,000 troops dead, wounded or captured and Britain: +700 British, Egyptian, Sudanese troops dead, wounded or captured.
