Mahatma Gandhi Setu

Mahatma Gandhi Setu is a bridge over the river Ganges connecting Patna in the south to Hajipur in north in Bihar, India.

Its length is 5,850 meters and it is said to be the longest single river bridge in the world[citation needed]. The approach to the bridge from the south is a two km long flyover.

It was inaugurated in May 1982 by Indian Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandhi.

There are 40 piers to this bridge.
