Maharani Kempa Nanjammani Vani Vilasa Sannidhana Avaru was the wife of Maharaja Chamaraja Wodeyar IX and mother of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV.
Born into the family of the Arasus of Kalale, Kempa Nanjammani was wed, at a young age, to Maharaja Chamaraja Wodeyar IX. The untimely demise of her husband in 1894 caused her eldest son to ascend the throne of Mysore while yet a minor. Maharani Kempa Nanjammani Avaru ruled the Kingdom of Mysore as Regent between 1894 and 1902.
Her second son, Yuvaraja Kanthirava Narasimharaja Wodeyar, was the father of Maharaja Jayachamaraja Wodeyar, the last ruling Maharaja of Mysore.
