[edit] Playing Career
He was drafted in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, 5th Round, 119th Overall by the Ottawa Senators. He played left wing with the Ottawa Senators and moved up to the first line becoming an excellent defensive forward, but was criticized by many fans and commentators for his lack of grit and sporadic effort. At the end of the 2002-2003 season the Senators elected not to try to retain him and he signed as a free agent with the Canucks that summer. During the first part of the season Arvedson's performance was disappointing. Towards the mid-point of the year his play improved markedly as he settled in with his new team. Soon after, though, he was injured, and missed much of the season.
In the summer of 2004, he signed with the Swedish club Färjestads BK, the team that he played for before he played in the NHL. During a pre-season game he injured his back which forced him to retire.
