Magnet wire

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Magnet wire is a copper or aluminum wire covered with thin insulation. It is used in the construction of transformers, motors, and electromagnets, among other applications.

The wire itself is most often copper, but aluminum wire is not uncommon. The insulation material ranges from cotton, paper, or silk (useful for low-temperature applications) to polyesteride enamels (suitable for high-temperature applications).
