[edit] Plot

The game begins with a student in the Will-o'-Wisp Academy, a school of magic, which is located on the planet Kovomaka. The main character's teacher, Miss Madeline, has to leave to take care of some business involving a former student on a different planet, but when she doesn't return, her current students get worried, and go into space to look for her. Unfortunately, the ships they use to get into space crash on different planets, and the main character has to find your other classmates, as well as their teacher.

[edit] Characters

The Students:

The Main Hero/Heroine: The player can choose to be either a boy or a girl, and whether they specialize in light magic or dark magic. Regardless of which of the two are picked, the main character is considered the leader of the group and the one who holds the students together.

Lassi: A scatter-brained rabbitmorph girl who specializes in wind magic. In the hero story of the game, it is strongly hinted she has a huge crush on the hero, saying whenever she's lost, he's the one who finds her, and she happily wouldn't have it any other way.

Mokka: A robot that was found in a curosity shop by Principal Biscoutti. He was put back together and made a student at Will o Wisp academy. Mokka specializes in earth magic and takes a logical view of everything. If playing the heroine story, on Razen, he professes his love for the heroine.

Chai: A salamandermorph who specializes in wood magic. Surprisingly, he is the only one of his kind who can actually perform magic.

Pico: A hot-blooded youth who strives to be rich and declares Sorbet as his girlfriend. Pico specializes in fire magic and is considered the hardhead of the classmates.

Sorbet: The most serious and hardworking of the group, Sorbet specializes in water magic. She comes from a poor family that struggles to pay her tuition at Will o Wisp academy.

Faculty:

Miss Madeline: Though often tardy and a bit on the klutzy side, she is considered an extremely powerful magician. Miss Madeline is the six students' beloved teacher and her disappearance is what drives them to find her.

Principal Biscoutti: The head of Will o Wisp academy. It is rumored Biscoutti has learned the secrets to immortality.

Villians:

Master Kale: An enigmatic wizard whose face is completely concealed aside from his left eye. Kale controls both the Space Police and the Pirates of Cassia from behind the scenes. He is secretly gathering magicians for some unknown reason. The only known fact about him was he was once a quiet and shy student of Miss Madeline's.

Master Chard: Kale's flamboyant, martial-arts expert of a right hand man. Chard is the captain of the Cassia pirates and wears a sea urchin mask to conceal his face. Chard takes a Ginyu Force type prep before each battle.

Biek Fowler: A large chicken-type alien who is the combat instructor of the Space Police, under the control of Master Kale. He is very cruel and does not think twice about sacrificing lives or using insane criminals as perfect soldiers. Purported to be one of the best magic duellists in the universe.

[edit] Gameplay

Gameplay involves both screens, with the player using the touch screen for character control and interaction, while the top screen is being used to display maps and general information such as character status. Attack power during battles is influenced by the position of certain planets. All characters in the game are related to a planet. When a character's planet is positioned correctly, the character's magic attack power will be boosted. Players can also boost their attack power by tapping their character at the correct time during a battle. The battle system is turn-based, and by tapping the touch-screen at the correct time, it is possible to do more damage, or take less damage when attacked.

[edit] Multiplayer

Multiplayer in Magical Starsign can be done with up to six players, each needing their own game. Each player can take one of their characters into a dungeon with the other players, where they must work together to defeat monsters, while at the same time race to collect treasure from randomly appearing chests. Points are awarded for damage done and treasure collected, and the player with the most points at the end wins. Any experience points gained, collected treasure, etc. is taken back to the main game.
