A Hull is a Dark Bard, in the Pellinor fantasy series of books by Alison Croggon.

Unlike Bards, who try to maintain the Balance, Hulls seek only power and often work for whoever can get them the most power. Currently they work for Sharma, the Nameless One.

Hulls have all the skills of Bards, with none of the moral inhibitions. They use their perverted gifts to create monsters to aid them in their quest of destruction and devastation.

Whereas Bards are unusually longlived but can be killed like humans, Hulls are Immortal, and Invincible. They can only be destroyed using Bardic skills, which requires enormous effort and strength. Maerad of Pellinor has single-handedly defeated several of the strongest Hulls at once, leading to speculatuion over the depth of her powers.
