Magevet

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Magevet is Yale University's "first, best, and only Jewish a cappella singing group" founded in 1993. Magevet takes its name from the Hebrew word meaning meaning "towel." Ostensibly the name comes from Magevet's origins as a singing group founded by men singing together in a sauna. Today Magevet is a coed group with approximately 18 undergraduate members from diverse religious backgrounds.

Magevet sings a wide variety of Jewish, Hebrew, and Israeli pieces including many original arrangements by the group. Magevet has toured extensively throughout the United States and internationally in England, Scotland, Canada, France, and the Netherlands.

Magevet has produced a variety of albums over the years. Magevet's most recent albums include "Mik'tze Olam" and "K'mei Nahar."
