Magarey Medal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Magarey Medal is an Australian rules football award, given annually since 1897 to the best and fairest player in the South Australian National Football League as adjudged by the field umpires.

The 2005 winner was Jeremy Clayton from Port Adelaide Magpies, who was unable to accept the award in person, as he was in hospital due to an injury sustained while playing against the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles the day before the award. The coach, John Cahill, accepted the award on his behalf.
