Maelstrom (Ice Age)

Maelstrom is a fictional character in the film Ice Age: The Meltdown, who was one of the two predators hunting Manny, Ellie, Sid, Diego, Crash, and Eddie. Maelstrom was thawed out from the ice along with Cretaceous who were frozen and left in ice until Manny, Sid, and Diego mistakenly broke off a piece of the ice. Cretaceous and Maelstrom, being frozen in the ice for so long, were on the prowl for animals to eat (they'd found one in the form of a foolhardy glyptodont named Stu), and nearly caught the five animals when they were walking on the frozen water. They failed, however, and waited until the waters would rise so that they could catch their quarry.

When the waters were full to flooding, the two sea reptiles made their strike. But Manny's thinking and Ellie's predicament of being stuck in a rock slide proved useful for defeating the large sea monsters. Manny broke off a large chunk of the rock, which fell on Maelstrom and soon got Cretaceous after. Cretaceous and Maelstrom died, and were shown in the story book to be eaten by the vultures.

Maelstrom was a large green sea reptile with large front fins, thick scales on his back, and a short snout. Maelstrom relied on his size to make an attack, whle Cretacous used his speed.

His death is not known. The movie shows Maelstrom and Cretacous are crushed by a gaint rock. One of the novels says he was picked of by the two eagles. And the story book shows the mini-sloths eating him as sushi.
