Maeda Seison

Maeda Seison (前田 青邨), born 27 January 1885 – died 29 October 1977 was a Japanese painter from Gifu prefecture in the nihonga style of watercolour painting.

  • 1885 - Born in what is now Nakatsugawa city in Gifu prefecture.
  • 1902 - Receives the alias "Seison" from his teacher Kajita Hanko.
  • 1922 - Goes to Europe as a student of the Japan fine arts institute.
  • 1955 - Awarded Japan's order of culture. Made an honorary citizen of Nakatsugawa city.
  • 1977 - Dies suddenly.
