[edit] Pre-Australian Life
Lachlan was born in Tauranga, New Zealand, to parents Duncan and Ennis Macleod.
He moved around New Zealand, living in 8 different houses in the first 8 years of his life, in Katikati, Dunedin, and Tokoroa, before moving to Tawa in 1995. In 2001, Macleod moved to the Gold Coast, Australia.
[edit] Australian Education
Macleod graduated from Emmanuel College, Carrara in 2005. In 2006, he began studying for a Diploma of Screen (Digital Sound and Music for Media) at Southbank Institute of TAFE (now Southbank Institute of Technology) in Brisbane. Macleod still lives on the Gold Coast.
Lachlan Macleod, as a composer of music, currently writes music using the Macintosh software ProTools, using a MIDI input keyboard.
[edit] Music Education
Macleod began learning music at the age of 5 with the recorder, which he learnt for 6 years, including one year's break. Over this time, he mastered different sized recorders, including descant and treble. He also learnt piano, from the ages of 8-14. Although he studied for AMEB exams, he never took any in piano. As well as these, Macleod studied violin (one year), drums (one year), guitar (two years) and singing (two years).
[edit] Music Composition
Macleod began writing songs, for voice with a guitar, in 2001. He began using keyboard and piano more, and most of his post-2003 songs are written for piano and voice. Lachlan now writes fewer songs, and more instrumental music.
[edit] TydeNet
Tyde Bands founded a web site during his high-school years, named TydeNet. Eventually, this evolved into a small internet community, frequented by students in Emmanuel College. Lachlan Macleod helped Bands to run the forums, acting as general moderator, and at times, administrator.
Macleod also wrote the musical theme for, and produced the pilot episode of 'TydeNet PodCast', a podcast by the moderators of TydeNet which never took off.
[edit] LachLAN
In 2003, Macleod hosted an Xbox LAN Party, entitled 'LachLAN 2004'. This party was intended to bring together some of Macleod's year level at Emmanuel College, during the school holidays, to play Halo 2 and other Xbox games.
In 2004, Macleod began the tradition of holding an Xbox LAN Party every quarter of a year, or, as it were, in every school holidays. The parties were named "LachLAN 2004 1/4", "LachLAN 2004 1/2" "LachLAN 2004 3/4" etcetera. This tradition stretched on through 2005 with LachLAN 2005, and even into 2006, after the year level had graduated. The parties are still held every quarter year, in an attempt to keep some of the year level in contact with one another after graduation.
[edit] Discworld
In September 2006, Lachlan Macleod decided to read through Terry Pratchett's Discworld novel series, chronologically, by date of first publishing.
So far, Macleod has finished the following:
Macleod has found his copy of Reaper Man, which he is now currently reading.
