Madhubani is a city and a municipality in Madhubani district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is the district head quarters. It lies 26km northeast of Darbhanga town and was part of the erstwhile 'Darbhanga Raj', the princely state of Darbhanga . The word "Madhubani" means "Forest of honey"[1]. Madhubani is the cultural heart of Mithilanchal, being the birhtplace of many literary people and home to Madhubani Paintings.
