Category:Mad Roman emperors

The main article for this category is Mad Emperors.

Many Roman emperors were alleged in the later sources to be mad. However, this 'diagnosis' is often questionable, since these sources had an axe to grind. Even if the evil acts attributed to them are true, many historians see this more as black-humour or amorality in the Joseph Stalin or Adolf Hitler mould, rather than what would now be diagnosed as madness or mental illness.
