[edit] images

Hi, I just found your kemenche. In fact I was busy carving a new bridge for mine because I'd like to take a picture from it so I had to restore it a bit in shape. Then I found your page(s)... It seems that I was only a few days 'too late' ;-) By the way, nice pictures! But - there is always a 'but' - something important seems missing. You haven't put any copyright and/or source information with your pictures. Images without any source/copyright information tend to be removed, which would be pity. Could you provide some info? Furthermore, can the images be put on commons (such that all other wikipedia's could make use of your fine pictures)?

Thanks in advance. - Arent 20:52, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bitola/Monastir

I noticed that you created a new article and redirected the old one. There is a "Move this Page" function that will automatically do this for you; it is preferred to use this method as it preserves the edit history of the article. Regards, Sysin

[edit] 6-7 September/Istanbul Pogrom

Hi Macukali, I saw that you put up an article entitled 6-7 September. You probably didn't notice, but there was an extensive article on the same issue already in existance, entitled Istanbul Pogrom. Feel free to edit your comments into that. I'm neither Greek nor Turkish by the way, but am very interested in the common history of the region. --Damac 19:25, 2 September 2005 (UTC) Sorry, I need to correct myself. I've checked when you put up your article and when I posted mine. You bet me to it by a few hours. Hope this is not a problem, had I known an article was already in existence, I would have simply added to yours. Sorry. I'm hoping that the 6 September events will be featured in the "Selected Anniversaries" section on the day. --Damac 19:53, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] ozhanozturk.com

Hi Macukali,

Just a note to let you know that your recent edits linking to various articles in ozhanozturk.com, triggered my spam-linking antenna. On the other hand, the links looked well intentioned and given your generally impresive edit history I wasn't inclined to revert them immediately. As such I sought further input from other admins at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Borderline_Spam_linking. The general consensus seems to be that, given the commercial nature of ozhanozturk.com, these links are probably not the best idea.

Some of the guidelines could be clearer, but you might like to review Wikipedia:spam and Wikipedia:External links. From what I could see, many of the linked articles on ozhanozturk.com contained some interesting information and history, so you might like to consider rephrasing the material and bringing that information into Wikipedia (without infringing copyright) in place of the external links.

Please let me know if I have grasped the wrong end of the stick. -- Solipsist 19:05, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Crimean War medals

I just noticed that the images in Crimean War medals have been tagged as "nosource", meaning that they could be deleted because they aren't clearly marked as to copyright status. I'm guessing that you took these yourself? If so, you might want to tag them GFDL. Let me know if I can help. -- Mwanner | Talk 00:26, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Yusuf Ismail

Hello. I was wondering if you could provide the source of the information about the wrestler. Thanks. Zocky 20:03, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Theathenae

Hey muslim brother! User Theathenae is spreading Greek propaganda in expense of us muslim Albanians. [1]. Can you protect the articles Theathenae is vandalizing through reviewing and editing them. Many thanks in advance! --Albanau 09:47, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Albanau

FYI, User:Albanau is banned for life on Swedish Wikipedia, see e.g. sv:Användardiskussion:Albanau and sv:Wikipedia:Begäran om kommentarer/Albanau. He has abused several users on sv: and has been banned indefinitely. Albanau is a troll! Probert 09:57, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Turkish name

Hi. I noticed that you speak Turkish. Can you please add a Turkish name for this old Ottoman province into this article: Elayet of Temesvar. If you do not know this name, can you tell me who of the Wikipedia users might know? Thank you. PANONIAN (talk) 00:00, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Trabzonhouse.jpg

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Trabzonhouse.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Sumela_monastery.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Sumela_monastery.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Carnildo or ask for help at Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. Thank you.

[edit] Thessaloniki on the Article Improvement Drive

Hey Macukali! I noticed your work on and interst in Thessaloniki and wanted to let you know that I nominated the city's article for the Article Improvement Drive. It is very close to reaching Featured Article Status and it deserves that recognition. Please feel free to vote for its candidacy at the AID! --Caponer 01:04, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] merhaba

Merhaba. I don't have any problem with Turks, zip, zero, nada. Although I disagree with some of the policies of the Turkish government, I don't hold any prejudice against people. Anyways, you can believe whatever you want to believe. —Khoikhoi 17:46, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Laz

Hi Macukali. Do you realy belive that Laz have nothing i common with Georgians? Ldingley 15:01, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Genetically yes. they're related like Germans and Dutchs, Ozbeks and Turkmens or Bulgarians and Russians... Language and culture similiar but they're different peoples and they've different languages--Salahana 15:18, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 47 in Laz

Hi, I am collecting translations for the number 47 (forty-seven). So far I have 509 translations, which you can see here. Can you help and tell me how to say and write 47 in Laz? I'd be most thankful; please reply on my talk page. Thank you! — N-true 15:09, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Thank you very much! Can you also add the proper spelling of the words in the Georgian alphabet? — N-true 14:24, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Selam Macukali, I noticed you uploaded Image:Kukul.jpg. Can you tell me—is this man Greek, Laz, or Turkish? Thanks in advance. —Khoikhoi 03:14, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

BTW, do you think Omerasan (talk contribs) is actually Ömer Asan himself? —Khoikhoi 03:10, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
Ok, thank you very much Macukali. Your work on the Trabzon article was excellent by the way. There was just one thing I didn't quite understand. In the "Origin of the Pontic Turks and Greeks" section, you said, "who stress the cultural resemblances (e.g. in village structure, house types, and pastoral techniques) between the Eastern Black Sea coast and the areas in the Caucasus proper". What I wanted to know was, who stresses this? Are you referring to Michael Meeker? If so, this should be stated. —Khoikhoi 04:43, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks again—I've clarified. —Khoikhoi 19:40, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mert yucel

I'm posting this message here because you're listed as a native speaker of Turkish on Babel. The above article about a Turkish musician has been listed for deletion under PROD, because the assertions of notability within it are not sourced. The "Press" section of this page contains many media sources, but all are apparently in Turkish. If it's not too much trouble, could you have a look at them and see whether any could be used to reinforce the article? Thanks! -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 13:36, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
