Talk:Macina (swamp)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This needs to be renamed & reworked. Macina is not a swamp at all, it is part of a vast seasonal floodplain called in English the Niger Inland Delta.

Moreover, Macina is a term that has several levels of reference. More narrowly it refers to the western part of the delta, in which the Fula population is predominate. More broadly it has been applied to the whole delta, for instance in the historical Massina Empire.

I would suggest deleting this article heading or changing it (not sure how that's done) and starting with a new article adapting some of what is in this article and adding info such as I just mentioned. --A12n 17:27, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
