Macromedia Studio

Macromedia Studio is a suite of different programs designed for web content creation and was designed and distributed by Macromedia. In 2005, Adobe Systems acquired the software company and thus, all intellectual property. Because it was released just prior to Adobe Systems's acquisition of the company, the programs comprising the suite still retain the "Macromedia" prefix.

The most recent version of Macromedia Studio is version eight, it's official name is Studio 8.

The current version of the suite includes the software listed in the Macromedia Studio 8 table below. Versions up through MX 2004 included Dreamweaver, Flash, Freehand, and Fireworks.

Released 2002, internally it was version 6 and the first incarnation of the studio to use the "MX" suffix, which for marketing purposes was a shorthand abbreviation that meant "Maximise".

Released 2003, despite its name, it is internally version 7.

[edit] Macromedia Studio 8

Released in August/September 2005, this is the latest version of the suite of programs. It comprises Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Fireworks, Macromedia Contribute, and Macromedia FlashPaper.
