Macchiato

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Macchiato is an Italian word, meaning "marked". It is frequently used to refer to two separate coffee drinks.

  1. Caffè macchiato (also known as Espresso macchiato), an espresso with a small dollop of foam. This drink is the traditional variation.
  2. Latte macchiato, steamed milk with espresso poured through it. Starbucks has popularized a flavored variant of this drink, known as the Caramel macchiato.
