Maccagno is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 70 km northwest of Milan and about 25 km northwest of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,028 and an area of 17.0 km2.[1]
The municipality of Maccagno contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Campagnano, Caviggia, Garabiolo, Musignano, Sarangio, Orascio, Entiglio, Veddo, Case Venere, S.Rocco, Bosco Nassa, Ronco delle Monache, Ronco Valgrande, Sasso della Nonna, Monte Borgna, Alpe Inent, Alpe Dei, and Lago d'Elio.
Maccagno borders the following municipalities: Agra, Cannobio, Dumenza, Luino, Pino sulla Sponda del Lago Maggiore, Tronzano Lago Maggiore, Veddasca.
