The Mabuiag people live on Mabuiag Island in the Torres Strait. They are one of the Melanesian Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. The Mabuiags had a reputation for hostility to outsiders until their acceptance of Christianity in the early 1870s. Mabuiag is administered by the Australian state of Queensland.
